About this item

Sleep apnea and Sleep-disordered breathing is increasingly recognised as a multifactorial condition, with orofacial myofunctional health playing a critical yet often under-addressed role.

Course/Activity Information

This webinar explores how dysfunctional breathing, tongue resting posture, tongue muscle tone, swallowing patterns, lip strain and oral muscle imbalance contribute to compromised airway stability during sleep. We will examine the relationship between myofunctional dysfunctions and common sleep issues such as snoring, upper airway resistance, and obstructive sleep apnoea across both paediatric and adult populations. Emphasis will be placed on clinical assessment, red flags in everyday practice, and the integration of myofunctional therapy within multidisciplinary sleep care models. Attendees will gain practical insights into how optimising oral muscle function and nasal breathing can support airway health, improve sleep quality, and enhance long-term treatment outcomes through a multidisciplinary approach.

This webinar was recorded on Wednesday 19 August 2026. Members can access this webinar for a free and  $45.00 non-members.
