This webinar examines the links between bruxism, obstructive sleep apnoea and temporomandibular disorders. You'll also learn about the potential for occlusal changes with oral appliances for snoring and sleep apnoea.

Join dental sleep medicine experts Ramesh Balasubramaniam and Harry Ball for an in-depth look at key aspects of dental sleep medicine. Dr Balasubramaniam sets out the evidence for the links between bruxism, obstructive sleep apnoea and temporomandibular disorders, and the inter-relationships between these conditions. He will also cover the methods for screening for and managing these disorders. Dr Ball provides an overview of the evidence for occlusal changes following oral appliance therapy and who may be most at risk. His presentation will include strategies for prevention, assessment, monitoring and management of occlusal changes.

Speakers
Dr Ramesh Balasubramaniam is an oral medicine specialist with expertise in temporomandibular disorders, orofacial pain and dental sleep medicine. He has numerous peer reviewed publications, co-authored several chapters and co-edited two textbooks notably Contemporary Oral Medicine. Ramesh is an associate professor at the University of WA Dental School and is actively involved in teaching and research. He has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally. Ramesh is president of the Oral Medicine Academy of Australasia (2019-2022). He also has public appointments at the Oral Health Centre of WA and the Perth Children's Hospital. 

Dr Harry Ball is the founder of SleepWise Clinic in Melbourne. Prior to that he was a  principal clinician at the Temporomandibular Disorders Pain Clinic at the Royal Melbourne Dental Hospital. Harry has been involved in training programs in dental sleep medicine for sleep physicians and general medical practitioners. He has presented highly acclaimed educational programs for dentists throughout Australia, as well as in England, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Singapore and Malaysia.  He has also presented for many organisations including the Australasian Sleep Association, Dental Health Services of Victoria, the Australian Dental Association and the Australian Association of Orthodontists.
