This upcoming, free interactive forum, co-hosted by the Australasian Sleep Association Network of Early career Sleep researchers in Training (NEST) and Monash University’s Rehabilitation, Ageing and Independent Living (RAIL) Research Centre, will focus on how to get your message across, using visual and graphical techniques. Our three experts in science communication will present real-world examples of creating visual abstracts, improving data visualisation and sketchnoting.

Dr Em Bould is a Senior Post-doctoral Research Fellow in the School of Primary and Allied Healthcare at Monash University. They have a strong track record of research generating evidence to enable participation by people with cognitive disability and promote their social inclusion, to bring about positive change for people living with disability. Em has expertise in accessible digital design and research methods and processes and has produced various accessible web-based and other digital resources.

Professor Jill Dorrian is Dean of Research for Justice and Society at the University of South Australia. She has a PhD in Psychology, in sleep and chronobiology research, and a Master of Biostatistics. Jill’s current work is focused on behavioural coping strategies for remaining healthy despite exposure to sleep loss. In particular, along with colleagues in psychology, nutrition, and activity, she is working in chronobehaviour – investigating the health impacts, not only of what we do, but when we do it

Dr Amelia Crabtree is a Consultant Geriatrician from Alfred Health and the Clinical Lead for Older People at Safer Care Victoria. She has a passion for capturing and communicating information visually. As faculty for the Leadership and Innovation in Health Programme delivered by Monash University and the Harvard Macy Institute, Amelia provides executive education regarding visual thinking and creative leadership. Amelia has also been engaged to create graphic recordings at both national and international conferences.
